The certificate is our own design, set in EB Garamond, with their name and your message. The names shown are sample names. Open the example certificate (PDF).
How it works. Available to order until Thursday 24 December. The printable certificate is emailed to you straight away, with its own certificate number. They choose a house, street or village in England by emailing us quoting that number, any time within 12 months (in January we also get in touch with you, or them if you prefer). We research it, send a proof, and post the A4 hardback once the proof is approved, usually within 4 to 6 weeks of their choosing, in order of choosing. If the records for their house are thin, the book widens to the street and village around it, or you get a full refund. See the Place History Book and the Grantchester sample.
What's included
- A gift certificate in our own design, with their name and your message, emailed as an A4 PDF to print at home
- Or add a printed 7×5 inch card on heavy matte card, posted to you or to them in a kraft envelope (£5 more)
- The Place History Book itself: an A4 hardback + PDF, 24 to 32 pages plus the cover, about a house, street or village of their choice (places in England)
- A unique certificate number printed on the certificate and the card: they email us quoting it to choose their place. Valid for 12 months
- Once they have chosen, we research the place and send a proof before printing
- The book usually arrives within 4 to 6 weeks of their choosing, in order of choosing

- Printed certificate card, posted in a kraft envelope, + the printable PDF + the hardback book once they choose their place: £84, order by Tuesday 15 December for Christmas

Real records, honestly used. We build each item from archives and published sources, and say so where the record is incomplete. We email a proof before printing. We never research living private individuals.
